David McCarthy was born in Ayrshire where he worked in a whisky-bottling factory, before studying theology in Edinburgh. He was also employed for several years in a job where he had to wear a seagull costume, which he reckons prepared him for life in the ministry!(?). He came to faith in Jesus in 1980, was ordained in 1988 and has served at St. Silas since 1995. He likes movies, music and gadgets. He is married to Abby and they have three children, Matthew (born 1991), Caitlin (1994) and Molly (1996).

of taking care of our growing Children's and Youth ministries.
The Vestry of St Silas is the group that makes the decisions for
the church as a whole. It is made up of members of the congregation who are
elected at the ABM to serve for a maximum of 6 years (two terms of 3 years).
The Vestry meet for prayer once a month and for business once a month (i.e.
a meeting every two weeks, which isn't bad considering the amount of work they
get through for us all).
Here are various pictures of vestry members mostly during away days, to find out who the current vestry members are check out the noticeboard on the way into church. If you have any communications for vestry they can be directed through the church administrator.
